(click to enlarge)The ship Cotton Planter arrived at the Port of New York from Antwerp, Belgium, on August 16, 1845. Aboard were my great-great-great grandparents, Johann and Maria Wolfschlaeger, and their family.

Little information was given in the ship's manifest. Johann Peter Wolfschlaeger would have been about 41 years of age at the time. His wife, Maria Wigger, was about 35. Ages of the children arriving with them were Lucas, 11; twins Anton and Maria Margaretha, 8; Hermann Joseph, one month short of 6 years; and my great-great grandmother Theresa, 22 months old.
