My paternal grandpa, John Samuel Krentz, was born on 19 May 1891 in Reynolds, White County, Indiana. His parents were Johann Michael Krenz and Christine Friederike Dorothea Brandt. John was the last of the eight children his parents had together. In addition, he had eight half-siblings on his father's side and one more on his mother's side, making him the youngest of seventeen children. However, three half-siblings and one full brother died in infancy long before John was born.John was christened at the German Lutheran church in Reynolds on 31 May 1891, and he attended the German Lutheran school there as a child. He was confirmed on 16 April 1905, but his mother was not there to attend the confirmation; she had died in August 1903, when John was just twelve.
Confirmation Certificate of John Samuel Krentz(currently the best copy available--I hope to replace
it with a high-resolution scan as soon as possible)
When he was still in his teens, John left Indiana to join some of his full siblings who had moved to North Dakota. It was there that he eventually made a home for himself, married and raised a family, and spent the remainder of his life.

TK, nice pic of your grandpa---and the Confirmation Certificate was nice also.
I am trying to find the common denominators for my blogging problems --- can't always down load images or see some images in other blogs. Did you have 2 or 3 images in this blog? I can see 2 images, but there appears to be an image that I can't see where it says "click to enlarge."
If there are 3 images, did you upload all of the images in the same way? How did you umload the images.
thanks for any help you can give to me.
Yes, Joan, the image you couldn't see is a handwritten christening record from the churchbook. I've had what sounds like a similar problem sometimes. If I click where the image should be, sometimes it will take me to the enlarged version, and then when I hit the Back button, in some cases the image will then appear on the page as it should. I've wondered if it might be a shortage of available memory in my computer rather than a Blogger problem, or maybe when the page is loading something gets hung up somehow. This is all just guesswork, of course. Anyhow, I did upload all the images the same way, using the picture icon just above the edit box. Oh, I just had another thought... the picture you couldn't see? After I uploaded it, I stretched it to make show up larger on the page. I wonder if that creates some kind of problem. Try looking at my May 16 post--I stretched all three of the images in that one also. Do those show up for you?
