Before My Time is about the ancestry and extended family of my four grandparents: John Samuel Krentz (Indiana/North Dakota), Margreta Tjode Hedwig (Gertie) Buss (North Dakota), Rosmer Pettis Kerr (Pennsylvania/Michigan), and Evelyn Elvina Hauer (Michigan), and other topics in genealogy and family history.

Theodore Hauer's First Marriage

Theodore Hauer was thirty years old when he married his first wife, Catharina Thorn. Born 1 March 1809 in Bous, Remich, Luxembourg, Catharina was the daughter of Paul Thorn and Susanna Hartmann.

Catharina and Theodore were married in Bous on 23 December 1829.

Ten months later, on 24 October 1830, Catharina gave birth to their son Nicolas.

On 2 December 1831, when Nicolas was barely a year old, Catharina died.

A year later, Theodore married Anne Marie Beissel. It appears that Nicolas was raised in this family, as he appears with them in the 1843 and 1846 censuses. He is also named in the 1851 census, but it indicates he was in military service in Diekirch.

I searched the records of Diekirch, hoping to find a marriage record for Nicolas, but instead I found his death recorded on 10 November 1852.

Great post as usual - way back in October. Here it is January and I am going through a "post withdrawal" from you. Working on anything interesting?

Aw, look who's talking. I'm still waiting for The Roots of the Rotts, Part Deux.

As for me, my current project is a photo album. Started on that a couple weeks ago, and have about 60 pages done. Now I have to depend on some cousins to supply me with pictures that are missing from the flow. Can't wait to see how that goes. I hope I don't have to leave out a whole branch of the family!
